Emperor's Palace, Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China 10/2006 "The next morning we went to Tiananmen Square. Tiananmen Square was very big. It can hold 1 million people. General Mao is entombed there. We didn't go in to see him but there was a big picture of him on the Square. From Tiananmen we walked to the Forbidden City that is right across the street under the big picture of General Mao. It is called the Forbidden City because no one was allowed to go onto the grounds of the Emperor's Palace except the Emperor and his army and servants. All of the roofs in the Forbidden City are yellow. Yellow is the sign of royalty." Richard 10/2006 |
